Like all other couples before them Ryan and Kristy started with a connection. It all began back in February 2014, with the calendar of a new year recently flipped, both wanted to put themselves out there and test the often turbulent waters of the dating world.
Keeping in mind that it was 2014, and technology well on its way at becoming a requisite of everyday life, it only made sense that the couple tried their luck at finding that special someone on the Internet. So after much self debate, at least on Ryan’s part, they each picked up their credit cards and signed up with the dating website eHarmony.ca.
It wasn’t long after signing up that they had started receiving numerous relationship inquires, but none seemed to click. Weeks passed, then on a damp February afternoon Kristy, after spending hours staring at dud dating profiles, came across Ryan’s and liked what she saw. After sitting nervously at her computer questioning whether or not to make a move, she finally decided to go for it. She excitedly started an eHarmony.ca conversation with Ryan, except Ryan didn’t immediately respond.
Days past, and still no reply from Ryan. Kristy wondered if he perhaps wasn’t interested in her, but that wasn’t the case at all. You see, the reason why Ryan didn’t respond wasn’t because he was uninterested. No, Ryan didn’t respond because he was in London, England attending a feature film premiere and his shitty hotel had extremely spotty wifi.
The film premiere ended on the evening of Valentine’s Day 2014. Now back in his hotel in London, England Ryan decided to battle for wifi once more before bed. So he walked around the hotel holding his cell up in the air. After wandering around the first three floors unsuccessfully, Ryan eventually found acceptable wifi on the forth floor. The ridiculously long search was worth it through because waiting for Ryan on the eHarmony.ca app was a message from Kristy. After creeping her out, and eventually liking what he saw, Ryan quickly replied with excitement and made plans to meet Kristy upon his arrival back in Thunder Bay.
Fast forward to December 21, 2017. With Christmas just days away, and snow freshly sprinkled on the streets, Ryan took Kristy and their two dogs, Rocky and Pebbles, for an evening drive to see the seasonally lit houses around Thunder Bay and asked Kristy to marry him.
All relationships start with some sort of connection. In Ryan and Kristy’s case, literally.
Ryan & Kristy are getting married on Saturday, August 31st, 2019!
